If you want to create folders for your subject areas, Math, Science- etc., and change the icon to something else- that’s fine. If you want to have a couple of extra folders with different icons- because you really want the Red Sox logo showing on your desktop- that’s fine. If you want to have stickies with images within them- that’s fine. Please refrain from creating hundreds of little icons/images all over your desktop. If you’re not sure if you desktop is “ok”- check in with Mrs. Macdonald or Mr. Favreau

At home, or a friends house if you’re working on a project together.

You are strictly prohibited from using your laptop on the bus- as it’s a safety issue. If the bus stops quickly to avoid the squirrel crossing the road, then, according to Newton’s laws of motion, everyone’s laptop that is out, will slide off their lap or go flying and break.

Bringing your laptop on school trips is a BIG no-no. Even long trips, such as the Washington D.C. trip, the Harrogate trip, or the Quebec trip. There’s not any time to use your laptop on the trips, and there is a bigger chance of your laptop getting damaged, lost or even stolen.

That said, there are a number of learning sites online that have games that actually do teach you things. Those should be okay, but double check with your teacher first. The laptop has some (non-web) fun programs that you ARE allowed to engage in during study hall, such as Chess, Comic Life, GarageBand (Consult with your teacher before doing this), and some other things as well.
